Our final week of the summer program was full of energy, encouragement, and celebration. From sprints in the park to our big Run, Girl, Run! event, the week reminded us how far the girls have come — and just how powerful it feels to finish strong together.
Tuesday – Park Adinay
We kicked off the week with relays — a whole new kind of running for many of the girls.
First relay: teams of three ran 400m loops, one runner at a time.
Second relay: teams of three sprinted 130m each to complete a full lap.
The sprints brought out a different kind of challenge — burning lungs, metallic taste in the mouth, and the thrill of pushing past limits. It was an unforgettable experience to end the session with such intensity.
Thursday – Park Adinay
Our last training run before the race was light and easy. Lily shared some final words of encouragement, reminding the girls to believe in themselves and trust in their ability to surprise themselves on race day.
Saturday – Run, Girl, Run! 🏃♀️
The big day arrived!
7 Juniper Kyz participants ran the 5K, and 1 participant ran the 10K.
For many, it was their first time running 5K non-stop.
Sezim celebrated a personal record in the 10K.
The morning was perfect — cloudy, dewy, and fresh, with an air of excitement and energy. We had 24 participants in total.
Highlights:
Volunteer support from Kimberly Gray (cheering at the start), Vladislav Dzyubak (led the cooldown), and pilot program graduates Begzada and Alina, who showed up in support.
Aijarkyn and Ainura helped with event organization.
Sierra Café (Toktonalieva 62) was the perfect partner — right by Ataturk Park where we ran, and they generously let us use their conference hall for the awards ceremony.
Before the race, the girls dressed up in glitter and ribbons to mark the celebration.
Awards & Prizes:
Nargiza Satybaldieva and Nuskaiym Nurdinova each won sneakers donated by Li-Ning and Juniper Kyz t-shirts for being the most active participants.
Zulaika Rasul Kyzy and Sezim Turdumambetova also received Juniper Kyz t-shirts for their dedication.
Ido.active donated sportswear goodie bags for the winners of each category (3K, 5K, 10K).
Aida Duishenbekova went above and beyond by arranging goodie bags from SmileDesign_KG, the dentist’s office where she works.
A huge thank you to Elayim (@elayim_photography) for capturing all the special moments — from the start line excitement to the proud finish-line smiles.
